Pancreas plays an important part in our digestive system because it is responsible in the discharge of enzymes and digestive juices in our intestines. This way, the foods we consume is easily digested and the intestinal walls can absorb the nutrients and vitamins, which are then absorbed by the blood. Pancreas also generates insulin that is necessary for maintaining the balance of the sugar level in the body.
However, there are several pancreatic problems that can arise, which can be recognized with symptoms of pancreas problems. Pancreatic disorders may include acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic tumor, diabetes mellitus and pancreatic cancer.
To be able to know the kind of pancreatic disorder you have, it is necessary to identify the different symptoms of pancreas problems.
For pancreatic cancer, early symptoms of pancreas problems are stomachache, loss of appetite, backache, jaundice, weight loss, itchiness in different body parts and frequent fever.
The condition wherein the organ is enlarged is called acute pancreatitis. This condition have symptoms such as trauma, too much fats in the blood, pain in the abdominal area, gallbladder disorder, rapid pulse rate, vomiting, dehydration and low blood pressure.
Most symptoms of pancreas problems such as chronic pancreatitis are similar with symptoms of acute pancreatitis. However, there are studies that show that chronic pancreatitis is an advanced stage of pancreatic disease. Some of the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis include weight loss, mal absorption and pain in the abdomen area.
Pancreatic problems may be caused by different factors such as age, smoking, too much consumption of meat that are high in fat and exposure to chemicals such as insecticide and gasoline. Genetic predisposition may also be considered as a factor in having pancreatic problems.
