Symptoms of STD

You can get STD through any sexual forms – Oral, Anal and Vaginal. Although condoms can reduce the risk of getting STD, it is not 100% proven that you are safe from having this disease. There are many symptoms of STD and these are chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV/Aids, genital herpes, hepatitis, genital warts, and syphilis. What are they?

Chlamydia is a discharge from the penis or vagina. Your genital tract is infected that causes pain when urinating or having sexual intercourse.

Gonorrhea is when you feel a burning sensation when urinating. There’s yellowish or bloody discharge from the penis or vagina.

HIV/Aids is a virus that cannot be cured but there are medicines to take to stop the virus from multiplying. HIV and Aids may have no symptoms for 10 years but some people can experience extreme fatigue and weight loss.

Genital Herpes is infectious. It causes blisters, red bumps and sores in the genital or anal areas.

Hepatitis is a contagious disease. There are three kinds –A,B and C. Hepatitis is a serious disease that affects your liver. Signs may appear after weeks and the symptoms may include fever, joint pain, nausea, muscle aches and tiredness. It makes the white of your eyes and skin yellow (jaundice).

Genital Warts appear like a cauliflower shape on the penis or around anus and vaginal area.

Syphilis is a bacterial infection that affects your skin and other parts of the body. If untreated the infection can spread to the next stage. Syphilis has four stages – primary, secondary, latent and tertiary. Sores will appear during the primary but will heal on their own. In the secondary stage, there are red rashes and sores on any parts of your body. Latent stage is when the symptoms disappear but the infections are still in the body. Tertiary is the late stage of the infection. If untreated it can lead to blindness, dementia, internal organ damage and death.
