Herpes Zoster is a disease that is caused by the same virus that also causes chickenpox. Strangely enough, your body carries this virus in the body in a dorant stage after chickenpox.

Symptoms of Herpes Zoster include a pain on one side, tingling, or burning sensation in a specific part of the body. The skin will redden and may develop blisters and some of the blisters may ooze and crust. In addition, Herpes Zoster is accompanied by fever, chills, genital lesions, abdominal pain, joint pain, loss of eye motion, hearing loss, taste abnormalities, vision abnormalities, drooping eyelid, headache, lymph node swelling, and general “icky” feeling.

In most cases, Herpes Zoster sprouts up after stress, an impaired immune system, or age. It spreads along the nerve tract from the spine, causing pain and burning. A rash will show in a few days, consisting of red patches of skin with blisters. An outbreak is usually non-recurring.
