Gout is a disease that not many people know about. This particular disease focuses on the joints of the body, and the symptoms include joint deformity, joint swelling, and joint tenderness. However, there are a lot more symptoms than that!
Someone afflicted by this disease would experience elbow joint pain, foot joint pain, hand joint pain, joint erythema, warm joints, knee pain, limited range of motion, severe pain, swollen feet, and wrist joint pain. The symptoms are caused by high levels of uric acid in the bloodstream. This uric acid creates crystals in the joints that would appear like tiny needles. It may be a long time before any of these crystals cause pain or symptoms.
Gout has a long list of risk factors. The risk factors include being over 40 years old, abuse of alcohol, aspirin, atherosclerosis, exposure to high quantities of lead, diabetes, hyperlibipdemia, high blood pressure, obesity, purine diet, thyroid disorders, and transplant surgery.
