Symptoms of Gallbladder Infection

Gallbladder Infection is an inflammation or the presence of stones in the gallbladder.

The gallbladder is located underneath the liver. It collects and concentrates bile produced in the liver. Bile absorbs fats and discharge from the gallbladder. It runs into the upper small intestine in response to food. Situations that hinder or block the flow of bile out of the gallbladder can result in gallbladder infection.

There are two types of gallbladder diseases: Cholecystitis and Cholelithiasis.

Cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder. This causes bile trapped in the gallbladder that results to abdominal pain. People who suffer from this sickness have gallstones in the gallbladder. Severe illnesses, alcohol addiction and tumors may cause this disease.

Cholelithiasis is the presence of gallstones. They are solid, stone-like deposits inside the gallbladder. The stones differ in sizes. They can be as small as a grain or as big as a penny. Gallstones appear more in women than in men.

Here are some of the symptoms of gallbladder infection:

• Chest Pain and Back Pain
• Fever
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Chills
• Severe abdominal pains that may last for a few minutes to hours
• Abdominal Gas
• Pain under the right shoulder
• Abdominal Bloating

People who are suffering from gallbladder infection are advised not to indulge in high- fat and high-cholesterol foods as it may increase the pain. Food such as beans and nuts can also cause pain. Consumption of alcohol is not allowed.

If any of the symptoms of gallbladder infection appear, please contact your doctor or health care provider immediately.
