Though a very serious condition, there are no known medical symptoms of cancer that may exclusively indicate its presence. Generally, cancer symptoms include persistent fever, unintentional weight loss, skin discoloration, fatigue and pain. Since these symptoms may indicate another type of medical condition, it is advisable to watch out for the following specific medical symptoms of cancer.

A change in bowel habits or bladder function such as long-term constipation, diarrhea or a change in the stool characteristics may be a sign of cancer of the colon. Painful urination accompanied by blood or a change in the frequency of urination could likewise be related to prostate or bladder cancer.
Further, the presence of sores that do not heal accompanied by bleeding may mean the presence of skin cancer. A sore in the mouth may be a sign of oral cancer which should be treated immediately. Sores in the genitals should also be brought to the attention of the doctor, as they may indicate not just one type of cancer.
Bleeding and blood discharges are medical symptoms of cancer of specific type. Blood in the sputum may signify a cancer of the lungs. Blood in the stool may mean cancer of the colon or rectum. Likewise, vaginal bleeding may mean cervical cancer and bleeding of the nipples may mean breast cancer.
Any thickening or formation of a lump should be reported immediately to a doctor, as it may be a symptom of cancer. Particularly, if this lump has a noticeable increase in size.
While these symptoms are considered specific medical symptoms of cancer, there are far less more specific ones which will help your doctor in his diagnosis. Any major changes in your bodily functions should be brought to your doctor’s attention. Whether they are cancerous or not, the important thing is for them to be treated immediately.
