Symptoms of Acute Bronchitis
Acute Bronchitis affects the main airways to the lungs and does not last long (which is different from chronic bronchitis). Generally, those afflicted with acute bronchitis experience cold-like symptoms. It might start with an itch at the back of the throat and then turn to a dry cough. However, as the infection progresses, you’ll experience a mucus in your cough, usually yellow and thick.
The main symptoms of bronchitis are a cough (gets worse for 10 days up to 2 weeks, is worse at night, has mucus in it and lasts for less than 6 weeks), wheezing, a rattling feeling in the chest, slight fever, poor sleep, shortness of breath, a general sickly feeling, and chest pain. If you suspect this illness, see a doctor immediately for treatment.
There are many causes, but it can be just from the rhinovirus (common cold). However, you are more likely to get acute bronchitis if you’ve had a recent respiratory infection or you have certain frequent lung issues or if you smoke.
